5 Freebies at Walt Disney World

Freebies are always good, especially at Walt Disney World!  Check out these ways to save some money and acquire free souvenirs during your stay.

FREE parking

Parking your car at Walt Disney World can cost a lot! Look into areas that offer free parking. There are a few sections such as The Boardwalk and Downtown Disney that have free parking. You are able to park there, and journey into the park via free Disney transportation. You can also find free parking at the mini golf courses and other small attractions that do not require a ticket to enter. This may require a bit of walking, but it will save you an estimated $14-$20 per day on parking.

Licenses for Driving and Flying

On certain rides you are able to ask for a license. You can earn your piloting license on the Dumbo ride and your driving license on the Tomorowland Speedway. When you arrive at the ride, before you get on, ask the ride attendant for a license. They will be sure to supply you with the proper licensing to ride or fly on your chosen ride. These also make great souvenirs.

Transportation Trading Cards

On just about any transportation in the park such as the monorail and boats, you can ask a cast member or attendant for a trading card. These are collectable and are offered in many areas of the parks. They often run out at times, but if one person does not have some, be sure to ask another as they each receive their own supply.

Package Delivery

If you enjoy purchasing things during your stay at Disney parks, but don’t enjoy carrying those items with you all day, you have two options to have them given to you at the end of the day. If you are staying at a resort hotel, you can tell the cashier or store worker that you would like the item(s) sent back to your hotel. Provide your information, and your package should be waiting at your hotel the next day after 3 p.m. If you are staying off property, you can have your items sent to the entrance of the park so that you can pick it up at the end of the day. You want to be sure that you do not do this too close to closing time, or the day before you leave to ensure that you receive all of your packages before departing. This is one of my favorite perks at Walt Disney World!

Wakeup Calls from Characters

If you are staying at Walt Disney World with young children, you can schedule to have a wakeup call from your favorite characters free of charge. Just let the front desk know when you would like the call, and in the morning you can have Mickey call and wake the kids up. This is an exciting way to start your day!

Disney Resorts Airline Check-In Service Totally Rocks!

Disney Resorts Airline Check-In Service

Disney Resorts Airline Check-In Service is an awesome perk available to guests at select resorts.

As many of you know, my husband recently took me to Disney World for our anniversary. We had such a great time! While we were there, I discovered a perk that Disney Hotels offer – the Disney Resorts Airline Check-In Service. If you stay at any Disney Hotel, when you check out, you can check your bags in at the airline desk that is located on the property! The bags are taken to the airport and the next time you see them is when you step off the airplane at home. There is also another nice perk. When we checked our bags in we also received our boarding passes. We were able to head straight to the security line once we arrived at the airport.

This program was AMAZING for us. We had a later flight so we were planning on going to one of the parks before heading to the airport. I had bought a TON of chocolate for Easter baskets and was worried about it melting in the car while we were in the park. Being able to leave our bags with the hotel allowed for us to enjoy the park and have peace of mind about our goodies. We didn’t worry about our bags until we got off the plane in Louisville and headed for home!

If you are staying at a Disney Hotel, I definitely suggest that you take advantage of this super convenient perk. It gives you the chance to enjoy just a little more time at Disney World before you have to head back to reality and responsibilities!

Disney Social Media Moms On the Road Celebration Recap

Disney Social Media Moms conference #Disney #conference www.couponingtobedebtfree.com

Last week I was honored to attend the Disney Social Media Moms on the Road event in Philadelphia. It was a great conference where we were able to network with other bloggers who love Disney and also get some insider information about what’s going on at Disney parks.

The conference took place at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. It was a long drive (11 hours each way) but we were able to squeeze in a bit of sightseeing while we were there (we’ll be sharing some of the places we visited in our next posts). The Crowne Plaza was a lovely hotel. The lobby was light and airy and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was very comfortable and clean and we had a restful stay. And just in case you didn’t know this ONE important fact, the hotel is within walking distance from the biggest mall on the east coast. Holy smokes!!

mickey treatThis is what greeted me at my seat.

After checking for the conference, it was time to find a seat, meet new friends, take some pictures and then enjoy a yummy breakfast.

The food was really delicious. Then it was time for some pin trading fun! Can you believe I have never traded pins before? Well, this was a first for me and I absolutely love the pin that I ended up with.

Gary Buchanan, Walt Disney World Social Media Managing Editor shared news about what was going on at Disney. He also told us about a contest to become the 8th miner. What a great contest.

Next up was Jenn Fickley-Baker, Walt Disney World Social Media Manager. She shared an awesome video clip that included the behind the scenes activities of their “ultimate tweet”. You need to watch this clip – you will LOVE it!

We also heard from Noah Lomax from HP. He shared how HP has been coming up with solutions to make life easier for busy moms.

Victoria Lim, Managing Editor, Walt Disney World Public Relations was really enjoyable to listen to and she shared tons of tips (she was my favorite speaker). I learned about attachments that I can get so that I can use my phone to take better photos (who knew….) and also about some great free apps that I can use to maximize technology on my blog. Victoria also confirmed something about Facebook that I was starting to suspect – when you use a photo on Facebook you double your engagement and receive more comments.

Maria Bailey @MomTalkRadio and MomTV.com moderated a panel discussion of 3 moms who are Huggies Mom Inspired grant winners. Amy Bradley (Toydozer), Kristi Gorinas (Dad Pack), and Jen Groover (Butler Bag). These women were fascinating to listen to. I loved the stories of their journeys with their businesses and how they manage their lives with their businesses. That was something I can totally related to. Finding the balance between work, blogging, and family is really tough! Maria Bailey ended this session with what I consider to be a really profound statement – Look at the whites of your child’s eye when you’re talking to them”. Wow! Kids will really feel that you are listening to them when you do that. Way too often I look at my computer screen as I talk to my family. That is something I need to change.

Debi Silber, Author and Founder of The Mojo Coach, was inspirational. She talked about taking care of ourselves. That is something I really need to work more on.

The conference ended with great fanfare when a special guest arrived. Can you guess who it was? Mickey Mouse of course. 🙂
