Are you looking for an easy desert that looks fabulous, takes yummy and will delight even the most ardent Disney fan? If so, you will love our recipe for Frozen inspired blue and white mini trifle. If you don’t have mini trifle bowls, these ones here work perfectly!
‘Frozen’ Inspired Blue & White Mini Trifle Ingredients:
- 1 C. sugar
- ½ C. butter, softened
- 3 egg whites
- 1 ½ C. flour
- 2 tsp. Baking powder
- ½ C. milk
- 2 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 can of whipped cream (I used Reddi-Wip)
- blue food coloring
- Small blue and white candy balls (located in the baking aisle at major retailers)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
#1. Combine the sugar, butter, vanilla, milk and eggs and mix well. Stir in flour and baking powder. Mix well. Pour ½ of the batter into a small bowl and add 3-4 drops of blue food coloring and mix well (see photo).
#2. Pour both batters separately into (2) greased and floured 9×9 or 8×8 baking pans and bake 20-25 minutes. Test the cakes with a toothpick and if it comes out clean they are cooked through.
#3. Remove the cakes from the oven and let cool. Remove from the pans and lay on wax paper.
#4. Using a knife cut the cakes into small chunks.
#5. Begin layering the trifles –
– Layer 1: Blue cake chunks with blue and white candy balls sprinkled on top and around the edges.
– Layer 2: Whipped cream
– Layer 3: White cake chunks
– Top Layer: Whipped cream on top with blue & white candies
*Serve immediately. I do not recommend saving (the whipped cream melts quickly). If you have any cake leftover you can save that in an airtight container up to 1 week.
*Makes approximately 8 mini trifles. 1 trifle = 1 serving. Total prep time about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
