It is that time of the year again when I have to circle the parking lot at the gym to find a spot, wait in line to use a treadmill, and fight crowds at the local health store. Many New Year’s resolutions seem to revolve around getting healthy. The motto A New Year and A New You is swimming around people’s minds.
It makes me thrilled that so many people are trying to change their lifestyles, but, by the time March comes, many people have forgotten or given up on these resolutions. Too often life gets in the way and working out and eating right just aren’t convenient! That is why I have put together a list of health and fitness apps that make getting in shape easy!
Most of us have our smart phones on us constantly! So why not use them to help in your resolution for a healthier life?! The following are 4 apps that I use and recommend!
Lose It! – I love this app!! It is a calorie counter that is so easy to use. You put in your current weight and your goal weight and it will tell you how many calories you should eat every day. It is super user friendly when entering calories. There is a scanner and you can search for restaurants to help keep you on track. You can get the app here.
Map My Fitness – This app is a life saver for me. You pick the activity you are doing and it keeps track of how far you have gone. You can even look at routes that people in your area have tracked. I love this for the days I have my long runs or need something new to look at. You can download it on iTunes here or Android here.
Nike Training Club – This app is great for when you can’t make it to the gym or you need new workout ideas. You can chose different exercises, many of which can be done in your own home! You can also customize different workouts depending on your mood or area you want to improve. It is like having your own personal trainer on your phone! You can download it on iTunes here or Android here.
Select Stretch Trainer – I cannot stress how important stretching is! I love this app because it allows you to target areas that are especially sore or tender. Stretching is one of the most important elements to remember when you are working out! You can download it on iTunes here (I couldn’t find an Android version).
These are the 4 apps that I have found to be most useful to me but there are millions of others out there just waiting to be explored! Have you tried any of these apps? What are other apps you use?
