Have you ever experimented with recipes using unusual ingredients? I’m pretty conventional when it comes to cooking but today I was determined to think out of the box. BI-LO sent me a sample pack of Chek Soda so I wanted to find a different way to enjoy it. The trick was finding flavors that compliment each other.
So, after thinking for a while I came up with the perfect combination – Chocolate Strawberry Bundt Cake. I already had a chocolate cake mix so what I decided to do was add in one can of Check Strawberry soda to make the perfect flavor combination.
Chocolate Strawberry Bundt Cake
- Box of Chocolate Cake mix
- 1 Can of Check Strawberry Soda
- 1 Egg White
- 1 Can of Chocolate Frosting
- Small Container of Fresh Strawberries
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl (the mixture will foam up – just keep stirring)
- Grease a bundt pan
- Bake for 45 minutes at 325 degrees
- Let the cake cool
- Frost with chocolate icing
- Place strawberries on top
I bet you’re wondering how the cake tasted…. let me tell you it was delicious. It was one of the most moist cakes I had ever eaten. Who would have thought that adding one can of Chek Soda would have made this cake so tasty. It was also amazing that I could actually taste the strawberry flavor in every mouthful. I will definitely use soda in future recipes. I might even get more adventurous and try something savory!
