How to Clean Oven Racks #clean #oven www.couponingtobedebtfree.com

I am on a mission to do some deep cleaning and up first is my stove (if you are looking for some FREE checklists to get you started on your cleaning check out my post here. There are 18 of them that are pretty awesome). So, I decided to start with my over racks (you don’t even want to know when the last time was that I cleaned them – although I think you can tell by the picture!). I also didn’t want to spend a ton of money. So I scoured the house to see what I could use to accomplish this job based on what I already had on hand.

Here’s what I came up with:

  • 6 dryer sheets (just use some cheap ones)
  • half a cup of Dawn
  • hot water
  • bath tub

I threw everything in together and let it sit over night. When I checked on it the next morning I was amazed at how well all that baked in grease had come off – it has something to do with what is in the dryer sheets. Since they were so dirty, I did have to use a little elbow grease and a S.O.S pad to finish the job. So, what do you think of the end result? I was really pleased with them.

Next up, the oven door!

I would love to try that…put I don’t have a tub, I only have a stand up shower.

After years of using expensive creams for cleaning my glass stove top – and still having rings and ‘permanent’ staining, I discovered that an SOS pad, used with a gentle circular motion, leaves my black glass top gleaming and totally scratch/stain free! I usually cut a new SOSpad in half and use one half til it is no longer soapy on use.

I don’t know. Dawn (the blue type) is awesome for removing grease. However, the dryer sheets seem to be the most important thing to use.

You can put them in a garbage bag overnight with that same solution and it will work also and then you don’t have to worry about scratching the bottom of your tub.

I leave mine overnight in a garbage bag with one cup of ammonia. Next morning just hose them down and they are clean. No scrubbing necessary!

I used my laundry room utility tub and did half for a few hours and then turned over and did the other half for a few hours. I was amazed at how much gunk just wiped right off. Great tip that I have shared!
