Create a monthly budget that works using a FREE Excel spreadsheet

The first step in getting out of debt is to create a budget. Once you have given every dollar you bring in a job to do, then you will be able to make a plan to get out of debt. Really, a budget gives me peace of mind. I know how much money is coming in and going out each month. There is no guessing about what is going to get paid.

I’ve created an Excel Spreadsheet for you that you can use to see where you spend your money, how much money you can put towards paying down your debt, and ultimately you’ll have a master financial plan. All calculations are automatically done for you and you can edit the spreadsheet as necessary.

It’s totally free and you can download our budget spreadsheet here. Let me know if you have any suggestions to make it even more user friendly.

Okay, I think I like this idea, but I don’t understand the columns that says Budget and Actual. Can you explain?

Budget is for the amount you plan to spend. Actual is what you really spend (so you can be more accurate with the next month’s budget). Does that help?

I am a firm believer in couponing to be frugal and save money. As a Financial Advisor, I saw so many people that spent well above their means and tended to buy big ticket items on impulse (well, obviously we all do that to some extent). It takes an active, “purpose driven” goal and a plan in the form of budgeting, scheduling time to search for sales or coupons and searching through your site. I have to say, I am very appreciative of people and organizations such as you and yours that seek to help others save. Thank you so much for all that you are doing Julia and the Couponing To Be Debt Free Team! Please keep up the wonderful work!
